Cardinals lose again

The Yorkton Cardinals travelled to Moose Jaw and Regina today for a strange and yet tiring double header...The Cards offense couldn't get anything going today as they combined for a total of 2 runs scored, while giving up a combined 25 runs to both teams they faced...Max Chadsey was the starting pitcher for the Cardinals, but was then pulled off the field from what could've been an injury. Bryce Manning then came in relief of Chadsey and got the loss...Bryce Manning gave up 4 runs(3earned) off 5 hits, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched...Dustin Caplette was great for the Moose Jaw Miller Express by only allowing 1 run off 6 hits, while striking out 6 Cardinals batters in 9 innings pitched...Tory Bell was the only standout for Yorkton as he launched a solo home run off Caplette for the only Cardinal run of the ball game...Final score was 10 to 1...

In game 2, Yorkton travlled to Regina to take on the Red Sox...The Cards seemed even worse as they ended up losing by the final score of 15 to 1...The Losing pitcher for the Cards was Corey Thompson...Thompson  gave up 9 runs (9 earned) off 8 hits, 4 walk, 2 Strikeouts while only pitching 2 innings...Bryce manning was the star at the plate for the Cardinals going 2 for 3 with a Double and an RBI...

Not much to say except that the Cards now trail Weyburn by 6 games, for the final playoff spot...

Our Leading hitter on last years team was Maple Ridge, BC product Mark Ellis who ended up hitting .391 but ended up leaving the team...so the Leading hitter would have to be Surrey, BC product Kevin McCleod who batted .294 with 42 hits...
Our leading hitter on this years team is Brett Smith who is batting .274 who has 23 hits...

Our leader in pitching last year was Santiago, Dominican Republic product N.D. Gonzalez who had 4 wins, 64 Strikeouts, and a 2.09 ERA
Our Leader this year in pitching is Max Chadsey who has 1 win, 17 Strikeouts, and a 2.22 ERA...

The Cardinals are at home to face the tough Swift Current Indians on Monday and Tuesday at Jubilee Park...
